The ship is then surrounded by a soft blue light, and the water begins to bubble and boil around them.
As Bas tries to grasp for something to hold onto, he reaches out to Jade, but the silver light takes hold of him, and he begins to float upwards into the sky. As he's transported away, Bas is filled with the ecstasy of the experience and contemplates his family who perished in a pirate attack.
