In this episode, we interview Gary McMurtrie on his recently published paper in the Journal of Addiction Medicine about Racial Disparities in the Treatment of Opioid Addiction. Gary McMurtrie has been researching this subject for 18 months, gathering data from several sources to shed light on some of the issues we are still facing in medicine today to make this world more equitable. Gary graduated from Chatham University in 2020 with his B.A. in Psychology and is currently applying to medical school where he hopes to become a psychiatrist specializing in addiction medicine.
