About this listen

**Originally aired June 16th 2025

In this episode of BuildHERS Club, we speak with Courtney Kelly, a licensed Professional Engineer, adjunct professor, and children’s book author with four degrees and a passion for shaping the future of construction. Raised in New Orleans and inspired by the impact of Hurricane Katrina, Courtney brings a powerful perspective to the industry. We talk about her mission to inspire young women through her books, Celeste Saves the City and Celeste Tunnels Underground, and how she uses storytelling to make engineering accessible and empowering.

Courtney also shares her experience navigating the field as a Black woman in leadership, and the ways the industry can better support women, particularly mothers. From onsite childcare to global models of support, this episode explores how rethinking workplace structures can lead to stronger, more inclusive job sites.

Kelly's books can be purchased wherever books are sold, or at www.courtneykellybooks.com
