Quel dì, le braccia levate al cielo,
dagl'occhi scaccerai l'acre paura,
incisa in volto dalla sorte oscura,
che ordisce in sonno il muto velo
pe'l lindo tuo bel viso sorgivo.
Come in lacustre miraggio d'arsura
occhieggia di ninfée la radura,
celando fra i canneti amor furtivo.
così'l destino è scritto in terra:
l'intrepido stormir di fresche fronde
disvela sul pontile la malerba,
ove illacrimati addíi rinserra
il verde legno inghiottito dall'onde
nel guado aperto da falce acerba.
