De autor anónimo, este poema no fue incluido en la antología del Man'yoshu, pero felizmente fue recogido en la compilación siguiente. No se conoce el origen del poema, pero acompañó a la sociedad japonesa durante varios siglos, y sigle declamándose hasta hoy.
Por su parte, Mitsuko habla del castillo de Nijo y cómo fue testigo del inicio y fin del periodo Edo.
