    Tourist visas are generally intended to be short term visas intended for time-limited vists. But I know of several people who have managed to stay in the Philippines fo many years on a tourist visa.

    A few years ago there was a common scam at Mainla airport to fleece foreigners. An airport official woudl slip a bullet into a pocket of and item of luggage.
