Kanji has been rescued and boy, the group is disappointed with the revelation (or lack of revelation) of Kanji’s sexuality. The game is starting to show its age with its social commentary, at least looking at it from a 2023 perspective. Kanji’s story is ultimately one about society’s expectations of masculinity and how he was bullied for not fitting that mold.
Acknowledging his shadow is just the first part of his journey of personal growth in this game. In order to develop a social link with him, you’ll need to talk to a woman on the 2nd floor of the Learning Building who states Kanji has been bullying people. You’ll then find Kanji on the 1st floor of the Practice Building, longingly looking into the crafts room and you can confront him about these rumors. From here, you’ll be able to spend time with him to help him resolve his internal conflicts.
The next victim we have to save is Rise Kujikawa, a famous idol that is from Iniba. She’s been overly-sexualized due to her pervious life in the public spotlight and that manifests when she’s thrown into the TV in probably the most uncomfortable part of the game.
The group also discusses the incredibly problematic camping trip. Yikes. Ronin leads and Cookie, Melkor, and Shrimpy join the discussion
