  • EP 43 | Recovering a Vintage Faith: Five Fundamentals of Evangelical Identity
    Mar 4 2026

    Send a text

Join us on Episode 43 of the Pastor | Scholar Podcast as we ask what it means to recover something that was never meant to be reinvented. In a time when labels shift and identities blur, we ask whether the word evangelical still carries the weight of a high view of Scripture, the exclusivity of Christ, and a zeal for gospel proclamation. If the church is “the pillar and support of the truth,” what happens when truth itself becomes negotiable? This conversation presses beyond slogans and into the question beneath them all: are we still anchored to the Word that defines us?

  • EP 42 | Why Theology Matters in Missions
    Feb 11 2026

    Send a text

Join us on Episode 42 of the Pastor | Scholar Podcast as we see that missions are not sustained by passion alone, but by truth rightly understood. Scripture warns that zeal without knowledge leads astray, and what we believe about God will shape how we proclaim Him to the nations. If Christ and His Word are not central, even well meaning missions can mislead.

Chad Vegas is the founding pastor of Sovereign Grace Church in Bakersfield, California, where he has served since planting the church in 2006 after completing his M.A. in Theology at Talbot School of Theology. He is the founding board chairman of Radius International and Radius Theological Institute, the founding vice chairman of Providence Classical Academy, and the author of By What Standard? as well as a co author of Missions By The Book. His passion is to know Christ and to make Him known.

  • EP 41 | Reaching Jews for Christ
    Jan 20 2026

    Send us a text

Join us on Episode 41 of the Pastor | Scholar Podcast as we see that throughout Scripture, God reveals His faithfulness to His promises and His saving purposes for both Jew and Gentile. We explore gospel ministry among Jewish people and the enduring hope found in Jesus Christ, the promised Messiah. As the Word exposes humanity’s need for redemption, it calls every person to repent of sin and believe in Christ alone, in whom forgiveness and life are found.

Isaac Brickner serves as the Los Angeles Branch Leader for Jews for Jesus, continuing a family legacy of sharing the good news of the Messiah that began with his great-great-grandmother Esther in Ukraine. Raised in San Francisco, Isaac grew up deeply connected to Jews for Jesus through Camp Gilgal and later embraced God’s calling on his life during a formative missions trip to Israel and India in 2008.
