  • PIE Talk-Podcast — Ep: 18 (Growing Pains-Upgrades & Let downs)
    May 12 2024
In this episode of PIE Talk, titled "Growing Pains—Upgrades & Letdowns," hosts Priscilla and B explore the often challenging journey of personal growth and the setbacks that come with it. They delve into the emotional struggle of losing connections as we evolve and the resistance encountered from those who may want to undermine what they don't understand. B illustrates this theme with a powerful analogy: just as losing weight often means your old clothes no longer fit, personal growth can mean that old relationships no longer serve your new self. This metaphor highlights the necessary, yet sometimes painful, process of letting go as part of growth. The discussion is enriched by insights from day 18 of the "Keep Effing Going" book, authored by Joshua Smith and Jordan Davis, which provides daily motivation and reflections on persevering through life's challenges. Join Priscilla and B as they share their experiences and offer guidance on navigating the ups and downs of personal development, underscoring the importance of staying true to one's path despite the obstacles. #PIETalk #GrowingPains #PersonalGrowth #LifeUpgrades #EmotionalChallenges #Letdowns #KeepEffingGoing #TransformationJourney #SelfImprovement #LoseWeightLoseClothes #ChangeAndGrowth #SupportAndResistance

    May 12 2024
After a brief hiatus, B and the newly certified Recovery Coach, Priscilla Z, reunite on PIE Talk to dive deep into the dual themes of managing anger and the pitfalls of toxic positivity. Fresh from co-facilitating a week-long training session that led to Priscilla's certification, they're back with a revamped episode structure that puts the focus squarely on these potent topics. This episode kicks off with a potent discussion on how to navigate the turbulent waters of anger. B introduces a groundbreaking anger management strategy: "Turn the A/C on." This technique, which stands for Authentic Curiosity, encourages individuals to cool down heated emotions and deescalate tense situations by fostering a mindset of genuine inquiry and understanding. The conversation also explores the concept of toxic positivity—the pressure to maintain a positive mindset in all situations, often at the expense of genuine emotional expression. This segment sheds light on why embracing a full spectrum of emotions is crucial for true resilience and well-being. Continuing with their beloved traditions, B and Priscilla incorporate insights from "Keep Effing Going," "The Four Agreements," and their daily challenge cards. Additionally, they introduce "Less Stress Cards" to their segments, providing listeners with practical tools to reduce stress and enhance emotional intelligence.
