  • Stronger after Friendly Fire
    Dec 23 2025

A 15 year law enforcement veteran joins us to talk about the mental and physical injuries after getting shot in the line of duty. She now serves as a lieutenant-a leader, mentor, and inspiration to those around her. Beyond the badge, she's a mother of two young daughters, a proud college graduate and a 2007 Women's Volleyball Hall of Fame inductee.

However, her journey hasn't been without extraordinary challenges. After being shot in the line of duty, she suffered devastating injuries that launched her into a long and painful road of rehabilitation-both physical and emotional. Battling post-traumatic-stress-disorder, she refused to give up. She shares her story of suffering her injuries as a result of friendly-fire. And just when she thought she'd overcome her toughest test, another career-threatening injury struck two years later.

But true to her resilient spirit, she turned adversity into fuel. Inspired by the growing cultural change within policing and a desire to uplift those around her, she adopted a powerful personal mantra: "Better Every Day."

    Nov 4 2025

He is a decorated United States Marine and a recipient of the Purple Heart for wounds sustained in during war time in Anbar Province, Iraq, where he risked his life to support another squad under attack and was injured by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED).

Refusing to let his service end with the Marine Corps, he continued his mission of protecting others by joining the police department in 2015. Just three years later, in 2018, he again found himself in the crucible of danger. He responded to a disturbance call where he and his partners were met with an armed suspect ready to engage in a gunfight. Struck by three bullets, he stood his ground-shielding his wounded partner from oncoming gunfire, proving once again that his instinct is to protect others before himself.

Today, he carries forward a message of resilience, honor and duty, seeking to inspire the next generation to serve their country and their community.
