Non tanto perché descriva un futuro tecnologicamente avanzato — sotto questo aspetto, anzi, appare quasi superato — ma perché coglie con una lucidità inquietante lo spirito del nostro tempo. George Orwell non aveva una sfera di cristallo. Non prevedeva smartphone, social network o intelligenze artificiali.
