About this listen
Will Sumner is already one of the most accomplished young middle-distance runners in the world. Not many people can say they’ve won at NCAAs, the Millrose Games, Penn Relays, and the World U20 Championships.
He signed a professional contract with Adidas after his freshman year at the University of Georgia, having won NCAAs in a negative-split 1:44.26. That performance turned heads and left the track world wondering how much faster he might be able to go, but since turning pro, injuries have taken him out more than once.
In this conversation, Will opens up about navigating setbacks as a pro athlete, and why he believes his ceiling is still far from reached. If you’ve ever battled injury, or struggled to stay confident when things don’t go as planned, this episode is for you.
