About this listen

Real, uncut talk therapy sessions between Stephen (client) and Zak (therapist) on all of the mental health and personal struggles every human faces in life. We hope the authentic nature of these sessions helps you on your own journey. There’s something for every human here. Ten years ago Stephen was lost. He needed guidance and help to find the person he knew was meant to be. One day, in 2015, after coming close to death and hitting new lows, he picked up the phone and called the number of a therapist in his hometown of Dublin, Ireland. The person who answered was a very respected Therapist called Zak. Zak went on to help Stephen find the person he was meant to be, and so much more. Zak helped Stephen get sober from alcohol and move into a thriving and deeply peaceful new chapter of his life. Then the therapy stopped for a few years, and both men went on with their lives. But now, Stephen and Zak have decided to start Therapy again. Only this time, you are also invited to listen. Disclaimer: The opinions expressed by our presenters are entirely their own. • "You're Too Hard on Yourself!" REAL THERAPY SESSION
    Apr 5 2026
Zak (the Therapist) and Stephen (the patient) discuss the idea of softening. Softening towards the self and the world. They also discuss the idea of negative self talk and how that has changed for Stephen over the years. They talk about unconscious manipulation and how Stephen was surprised to learn something about his own behaviour in relation to this. They talk about how a person in addiction can be juvenile, manipulative and somewhat narcissistic. They talk about the ideas of labels we put on ourselves about depression, addiction etc. Instead of using a label, and being definite about anything, Zak suggests that it might be better to say “I am aware of this state or that state”. This is Real Talk Therapy. And you are welcome to listen. #therapist #therapy #mentalhealth #personaldevelopment #selfrespect #kindness #selfsabotage Disclaimer: Welcome to our Podcast - ‘One man and his therapist’ where the opinions expressed by our presenters are entirely their own.
