About this listen

Good afternoon. Northern California. I'm Aaron Jolly. The wind found you today, didn't it? Gusts are punching 20 to 30 miles an hour across the region. And they're sticking around through the weekend. In the next 24 hours. Down in the Bay Area, you're sitting at 66 degrees right now, but that northwest wind makes it feel sharper than the thermometer says. Tonight drops to 52 under clear skies. Friday warms to 73, but those gusts keep hitting 30 miles an hour. Head inland to the Central Valley and it's the same 66 degrees, but the wind's meaner here — near 30 miles an hour. Tonight falls to 45. Friday climbs to 70 with those gusty north winds refusing to quit. Here's what's happening. A low pressure system rolled through Wednesday. Now a ridge is building over the eastern Pacific, creating a pressure gradient that's funneling strong north winds straight across Northern California through Saturday. Friday brings the strongest punch. Coastal areas and higher elevations could see gusts hitting 50 miles an hour. The valleys stay in the 20 to 35 mile an hour range. Secure anything that might take flight. Saturday kicks off a warming trend. Highs reach the upper 70s, with some spots near 80. Sunday gets even warmer — the warmest day of the week. Inland valleys push into the upper 70s and low 80s. The coast stays cooler in the upper 60s and low 70s. Early next week brings slight cooling as onshore flow returns, but temperatures stay above normal through Wednesday. Dry conditions continue — no rain in sight. Tonight's Full Moon rises under clear skies. We're gaining 2 minutes and 29 seconds of daylight each day now, with the spring equinox just two weeks away. For the extended outlook, check the latest forecast as confidence improves. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
