About this listen

Good morning. Northern California. I'm Aaron Jolly. Sunshine floods the region today, but here's the twist. Winds are about to make things interesting. The Bay Area hits 72 degrees this afternoon under brilliant blue skies. Sounds perfect, right? Except those north-northwest winds gust to 28 miles an hour through the morning. That's the kind of breeze that'll find every gap in your jacket. Head inland to the Central Valley and Here comes 70 degrees with even fiercer gusts — 31 miles an hour. High-profile vehicles, take it slow out there. Now here's where it gets wild. Up in the Sierra Nevada and Tehachapi peaks, winds scream to 50 miles an hour above 8,000 feet. A Wind Advisory runs through Saturday night. Down in the Mojave Desert? Gusts could hit 70 miles an hour by this evening. That's not wind — that's a freight train. A High Wind Watch is posted through Saturday evening. Tonight stays breezy. The Bay Area drops to 55 degrees under clear skies. The Central Valley cools to 47 degrees. Winds ease slightly but keep rattling around overnight. Saturday cranks up the warmth even more. The Bay Area reaches 77 degrees. The Central Valley climbs to 79 degrees. Sunshine dominates. And those gusty winds finally back off Saturday night. Looking ahead. Sunday peaks near 76 around the Bay and 78 inland. Some patchy fog develops Sunday night along the coast. Monday eases back slightly — 69 degrees near the Bay, 76 in the Valley. Dry weather holds through the week with highs in the upper 60s to mid 70s. Secure anything loose outside today. Your trash cans have plans to relocate. See you tomorrow. For the extended outlook, check the latest forecast See you tomorrow.
