5. Cowardly – δειλός deilós: Meaning timid, cowardly, fearful – describes someone who shrinks back in the face of danger, lacks courage, or gives way under pressure.
6. It carries a negative sense — not simply being afraid but being faithless or unwilling to stand firm.
7. Deilós only appears a few other times in the New Testament, always in the Gospels, when Jesus rebukes the disciples.
8. God consistently calls His people to courage, not comfort.
9. Bravery is not the absence of fear but choosing to act in faith despite fear.
