Is there anything harder for us to do than forgive? In fact, why forgive at all if it excuses wrongdoing? For the Gospel-centred Christian, like the Gospel-centred church, forgiveness matters. It matters because forgiveness is God's command in Scripture, it's unnatural to us as sinners, and it shows us the heart of God in Christ. When we consider God's generous mercy and kindness toward us in Christ, we find all we need to forgive others as we have been forgiven.
