As Jesus journeys onward in His corrective teaching, He now tackles the sensitive topic of giving. It isn’t sensitive to Jesus, because giving should be a normal practice for a follower of Christ. In this teaching Jesus approaching giving from a different perspective. He doesn’t tell us how much. Instead He talks about how we give. He moves it from the outside to the inside; our hearts. Should be interesting.

Jesus now ups the ante in his teaching. He will correct a culture that makes promises to people while simultaneously keeping loopholes allowing them to never have keep the promises uttered. We do live in a world of broken promises, but we as followers of Christ should never be the promises breakers. Instead, we should live a life of promise keeping.
