About this listen

Today is the first day of Nepali New Year 2078. We are beginning this new year with the first episode of Nepal Conversations. In this episode, we talk to Dr Liana Chase (Assistant Professor, Durham University) on the issue of mental health during disasters. Dr Liana Chase is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Anthropology at the Durham University, UK. Liana is a medical anthropologist with a longstanding regional focus on Nepal and the Himalaya. Her work explores the implications of human diversity and inequality for mental health care. Liana’s doctoral research traced the expansion of mental health services in Nepal following the 2015 earthquake from the vantage point of a rural community in the Himalayan foothills. Today, we will be talking to her about her research on mental health, especially in the context of crisis.
