About this listen
Shanda discusses how the Jackalope, a half rabbit half antelope creature, was created by taxidermist Douglas Herrick and his brother in 1932, which helped make their town of Douglas, Wyoming a tourist attraction, and evolved in a folklore that traveled around the world. Ashley talks about the monstrous octopus know in Norwegian folklore as the Kraken, whose tales of its colossal size and aggressive nature when attacking ships may have been exaggerated stories based on the real animal known as the giant squid.
