Il suo contributo in questo campo è stato decisivo, in Italia e all’estero: dalla fondazione, insieme a Bruno Maderna, dello Studio di Fonologia della Rai a Milano (1955), primo laboratorio di musica elettronica in Italia, alla direzione della sezione elettronica dell’Ircam di Parigi, fino alla creazione del centro Tempo Reale a Firenze nel 1987.
