About this listen

🤷🏻‍♀️ Do you wonder where the mystical land of work/life balance is? 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️Are you searching, striving, or longing to discover a better way to lead yourself and your family? 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️Is your soul weary and often overextended and overwhelmed? 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️Do you want to build your business or career but are afraid of letting one of those spinning plates drop? ✝ ✝ Are you looking for older women of faith who can share their nuggets of wisdom and offer you the encouragement you need to be a better you? Well, Marvelous Mom and Magnificant Mom-To-Be, , I’m Misty Hughes, I have been in that place. I spent countless years searching, weeping, and whining to God about the lack of older women who might serve as a mentor for me. I was a young mom, raising 4 kids, divorced, without a clue as to how to live in Christ, manage my home, provide for the family, love my kids, and care for myself. I looked around my church for a woman I could emulate. I longed for someone I could look to for wisdom. I ached for an older woman to encourage me. I wanted someone approachable, someone who had weathered the storms of life and was sailing on to her brighter future. I looked for a ✝ Faith Filled woman ✝ A woman who spoke words of life to others ✝ A leader in the church or community ✝ A woman who was actively reaching out, offering hospitality to younger women ✝ A mom who was encouraging others in godliness ✝ An overcomer ✝ A confident woman ✝ A woman who loved her family well + A woman who worked outside of the home or had her own business I read in my Bible about this Titus 2 older woman; I had images of what that should look like in my life. But I found no one. After a few years of grumbling and complaining, and maybe even a temper tantrum or two, I began to ask God to make me the solution to the problem. At the age of 36, newly divorced and a hot mess, I began inviting college girls to coffee, lunch, or to our home for dinner. My personal journey of being a mentor had begun. Over the years, I have mentored, coached, and taught countless women. I have also had the privilege of meeting many exceptional women who walk in wisdom, insight, and integrity. (The mentors we all long for.) Each week, I invite you to PRESS PAUSE on the busy demands of life, sit around the table with some of the most amazing women you will ever meet, glean nuggets of wisdom from these expert moms, and find answers to the questions your heart is searching for. So, grab your drink of choice, plug in those AirPods, and get ready to drink the encouragement your weary soul needs! • How to Build Healthy Family Relationships During The Holidays with Lori Wildenberg
    Dec 11 2025

Discover practical, faith-filled tools for building healthy family relationships during the holidays. In this episode of Mom2Mom Mentoring, Misty Hughes and author/speaker Lori Wildenberg explore how to navigate in-laws, expectations, adult children, and legacy-building with wisdom, grace, and biblical perspective.

How to Build Healthy Family Relationships During the Holidays is the conversation your heart has been craving as you prepare for family gatherings, layered expectations, and the delicate dynamics that come with adult children, in-laws, and growing extended families. In this deeply encouraging episode, I sit down with my longtime friend, licensed parent and family educator Lori Wildenberg, to unpack what it looks like to pursue peace, communicate with kindness, and build a lasting legacy of faith — even when holiday plans feel complicated.

Lori brings decades of wisdom from working with parents and families and shares practical insights that reach right into the real, lived experiences of today’s moms. Together, we talk about navigating shifting roles with adult children, how to respect newly formed households, and why in-law relationships need friendship far more than unsolicited advice. Lori’s calm presence and grace-filled outlook help us see that honoring one another is not just a suggestion — it’s a biblical anchor that can transform interactions that might otherwise feel tense.

This episode leans into the heart-level questions many women carry but often feel hesitant to say out loud: — How do I handle traditions when the family schedule changes? — How do we set expectations without stepping on toes? — How do I love my adult kids well without overstepping? — What does it look like to find unity when in-laws are involved?

Lori reminds us that flexibility is a gift we give ourselves as much as we give others. We discuss practical communication tools, ways to express needs without pressure, and how to bless our adult kids by releasing them from holiday guilt.

We also talk about the importance of legacy — not the big sweeping moments, but the quiet, ordinary seeds of faith we sow through presence, prayer, empathy, and consistency. Lori shares touching stories about her own parents and grandparents and how those experiences shaped her newest book, Grand Parents Make Grand Partners: How to Have an Eternal Impact on Your Grandchild’s Life. Her words invite every listener to think differently about the influence God has given them in their family line.

If you’ve ever found yourself anxious about holiday logistics, frustrated by unmet expectations, or wishing your family relationships felt easier, this conversation will give you both relief and direction. It’s warm, wise, relatable, and deeply rooted in Scripture — exactly the kind of conversation you want whispering in your earbuds as you head into a busy holiday season.

Friend, you don’t have to navigate family relationships alone. Let this episode equip you to show up with grace, communicate with clarity, and bring the light of Christ into every space your feet enter this season.

  • Simple Rhythms For Family Mealtimes That Build Connection
    Nov 20 2025

Family mealtimes don’t have to feel stressful, rushed, or guilt-filled. In this episode, we explore simple rhythms that bring peace back to dinner, build deeper family connection, and create a home where everyone can breathe again. Discover practical meal planning ideas, biblical encouragement, and gentle wisdom for Christian moms who want meaningful connection around the table—without overwhelm.

Today we’re talking about “Simple Rhythms For Family Mealtimes That Build Connection,” and friend…this one is straight from my heart 💝.

I know what it feels like to want to create meaningful moments at home but feel caught in survival mode. I’ve lived the busy-mom dinner hustle, the eating-in-shifts season, and the “cereal counts as a meal tonight (ok, I know everyone loves those nights, especially when all you have is the sugary sweet stuff)…right?” days.

But here’s the good news: connection doesn’t come from gourmet meals—it comes from presence. And when we bring just a little order and peace into our meal planning, we make room for God to meet us at the table.

In this episode we’ll talk about:

    • Why the table matters more than ever in this hurried, distracted world

    • Biblical encouragement from Isaiah 58 and Matthew 11 about the unforced rhythms of grace

    • How hospitality starts right inside our own homes

    • Simple, doable meal planning rhythms that save time, bring peace, and create consistency

    • Gentle, shame-free ways to make everyday dinners feel special (yes, even hotdogs + mac and cheese!)

    • How mealtimes become a place of healing, laughter, deeper conversations, and spiritual formation

You’ll also hear a few personal stories—candles on the table, picnic dinners on the floor, breakfast at night—and how God used those ordinary moments to shape the heart of our family.

If you’ve been longing for more connection at home but you feel overwhelmed or stretched thin…this episode will breathe hope right into your kitchen.

And don’t forget to download my free Meal Planning Bundle—it’s the easiest, most grace-filled way to simplify your meals so you can be fully present around the table.
