About this listen

Good morning. Michigan. I'm Aaron Jolly. Talk about weather whiplash. You're waking up to muggy air near 58 degrees, but don't get comfortable. A cold front is sweeping through right now, bringing thunderstorms and a 30-degree temperature crash by tonight. Down in Detroit and Ann Arbor, you're in the thick of it. Showers and thunderstorms roll through this morning, peaking around 11 A.M. With rain likely. Winds howl out of the southwest at 12 to 17 miles an hour, gusting to 32. Highs start at a balmy 66 degrees, but by 7 P.M., temperatures drop like a rock to 40. Tonight, clouds stick around. And lows actually creep back up to 42 after midnight. Sunday brings a reprieve with mostly sunny skies and highs in the mid-50s. Over in Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo, the cold front hits even harder. Thunderstorms are a near-certainty today, with rain before noon. You hit 64 degrees this afternoon—20 degrees above normal—before temperatures fall to 54 by the afternoon. Tonight, lows plummet to 35, then rise overnight as warm air sneaks back in. Sunday looks sunny and 57 degrees. Up north in Traverse City and the U.P., expect rain through the morning with patchy fog. Highs hit 57 degrees, but temperatures fall fast this afternoon. Tonight, lows drop to a chilly 30. Sunday offers mostly sunny skies and 51 degrees. The week ahead gets messy. Tuesday night through Wednesday, rain turns to a wintry mix. And by Thursday morning, you could wake up to snow showers. Highs by Thursday struggle to hit 40. Also, a Flood Warning is in effect for Sycamore Creek near Holt through Monday—turn around if you encounter water on the roads. In Sunset today is at 6, 35 P.M., giving us extra light to enjoy this brief warmth. But winter isn't done with us yet—by Wednesday, it'll feel like we time-traveled back to February. See you tomorrow. See you this afternoon.
