About this listen
Michael Anastassiades, the Cypriot-born, London-based designer, has collaborated with some of the world’s leading interior design brands.
Design at the crossroads of technology and art.
In this episode of Design Vox, host Thommy Bindefeld talks with Michael about his background and how he has developed his distinctive style and aesthetics over time.
The conversation ranges from his dedication to craftsmanship, quality, and heritage to his humility and the honour of being appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire.
Founded in London in 1994, Anastassiades’ studio reflects his background in both engineering and design. His work is held in major museums including MoMA, the Victoria & Albert Museum and MAK Vienna, and he has exhibited internationally in cities such as Stockholm, Vienna, Istanbul and Hong Kong.
His practice centres on the meeting point of industry and craftsmanship, where precision is balanced with sensitivity. For over two decades, he has created lighting, furniture and objects shaped by simplicity, material honesty and timeless form.
He is a Royal Designer for Industry, teaches internationally, and continues to collaborate with leading brands including Flos, Cassina, B&B Italia, Bang & Olufsen and Svenskt Tenn.
