This meditation was developed to help you switch off, recalibrate, relax and bring clarity to your life.
A body scan is a focussed or mindful meditation. There is a growing body of evidence to suggest this improves the hippocampus and frontal regions of the brain - good for memory, spatial memory, attention, and decision making.
This body scan is good for those who struggle to sleep or fully relax. It is also useful for anxiety and stress relief - it is suggested that 95% of physical illness and disease is caused by mental stress. Recent research shows that a 20 minute mindful body scan can improve mental and physical stress as it allows the body to relax deeply and rebalance itself. Researchers found the biomarkers of stress - cortisol and DHEA - in those that practice a 15 minute body scan each day were significantly healthier.
