About this listen
In this episode we are talking with Mauri Cooper also known by her art name "M.J". MJ uses her wisdom, experience, and experimentation to make moving, expressive works of art. Born and raised in Columbus, she loved going to museums as a child and practicing her creativity. However, creating art became essential to her well-being when she became ill due to meningitis.
Not only did she experience a chronic migraine for 9 months straight, but she lost her vision for 6 months, and was diagnosed with Amplified Muscular Skeletal Syndrome, Functional Neurological Disorder, Severe Photophobia, and Photophobia.
Join us as we talk about not only Mauri's experience with Meningitis but her experiences with racism within the healthcare system!
