About this listen

We are so excited to announce our Love is on the Air! winner with Fischer Plumbing!Kassie from Marysville is winning an overnight hotel stay, dinner for two, and a pair of tickets to the TobyMac Hits Deep Tour on February 27th!Kassie dedicates her love story to her Grandma Alice, who played matchmaker for the couple. Kassie met her husband Brian because he was one of Grandma Alice's nurses, and Grandma somehow knew they were meant for each other. Grandma Alice left a legacy of love and trusting in God's plans. Here is Kassie sharing about her Grandma Alice, the Matchmaker:"It all started with my Grandma (yes, you heard that right). My Grandma Alice was my favorite person growing up. Fast forward to Fall 2019, my Grandma was no longer able to leave her house to attend her appointments, so she had her medical team come to her. She called me one day and said, "I have a nurse coming to visit and I would like you here to be my second set of ears". Of course I was there for her, I wanted to support her as much as I could, but what shocked me when I opened the door was the sight of the cutest male nurse sitting in her room. Over the next several months, my Grandma requested that I was at EVERY appointment (especially when this nurse was there). All three of us would talk, but only about my Grandmother and her progress. After each appointment, she would poke me with her elbow and say, "Kassie, what about him?". Every time she asked me about this nurse, I would just brush it off and say, "Yeah, Grandma, I don't know". I found out later that she was also saying the same thing to the nurse, "So, what about my Granddaughter?".It was New Year's Eve in 2019, and I finally had been asked so many times by my Grandmother, that I decided I would "make a move". At her appointment that day, I finally branched out and talked about something OTHER than my Grandma. We talked about our NYE plans and then the visit ended. Immediately after the nurse left, my Grandma insisted that I bring her food tray back down to the front desk. I told her, "Grandma, the facility will come to your room to collect it". She insisted and refused to take no for an answer. Looking back, I think she knew what she was doing. I told myself that if I saw him, I would just keep walking. I didn't want to make anything awkward by talking to him outside of a visit and also was afraid that he might not be interested in me. Sure enough, as I walked into the room by the front desk, there he was, sitting in a chair charting her visit. Since I had told myself I would, I actually did walk past him! He called after me and I went back and we proceeded to chat. After a few minutes he asked for my number and it was then that I knew that the feelings were mutual. He went from being "the nurse" to "Brian". Our first date was bowling and watching one of the Seahawks playoff games in early January 2020.We continued to go out on dates. I didn't tell my Grandma, but she knew. During these few weeks, my Grandmother's health started to majorly decline. She was moved to hospice and was often in and out of reality. In late January of 2020, COVID happened and the world shut down. At this point my Grandmother was living in an Assisted Living Facility and those were one of the places that people were not allowed to visit. Miraculously, I was still allowed to see my Grandmother. I was able to attend every appointment and was right by her side when she passed a few months later. It was in those last few months where I realized that God had used her to make His Will be done. One moment in particular, my Grandmother had been sleeping. She woke up and asked me how, "How are the kids?". (I am a teacher, and at that point had no children of my own. So I had assumed she was talking about the kids in my class). When I responded about my class, she playfully hit my arm and said, "No, your kids". Confused I had told her that I didn't have any kids. She laughed and again playfully hit my arm and told me to not joke around with her. She then proceeded to explain that I had two children, a boy and a girl, and that their father was Brian. I was shocked. I hadn't shared with her that Brian and I had been dating, so for her to tell me that we were married with children brought goosebumps to my arms. It felt that she knew more about the world and its future than a human would normally know. I truly believe that she was connected with God in her transition from Earth to Heaven, and was following and expressing His Will.My Grandmother passed away shortly after that, in March of 2020. Brian and I continued to date, we grew closer and got married in August of 2023. This past June we welcomed our first daughter, Kaylee Alice. Her name is in dedication to the wonderful woman that helped raise me and who followed God's Will which brought me to my husband. We credit her for our beautiful life and thank God that He used her to help us achieve this love and marriage. As we reflect on our life, we recognize...
