    When Satan takes an interest in a poet living in an insane asylum, he must first deal with the poet's cat, Jeoffry. But when the cat proves to be unflinchingly loyal to his favorite human pet, Satan instead gets what he wants by threatening the poet with Jeoffry's death instead. Jeoffry calls on his fellow alley cats for help in the final showdown with Lord Lucifer and with a little supernatural help, the feline alliance successfully destroys the poem 'that would lay waste to all of creation' in a most cat-like way.
