    The Red Sox (77-62) came from behind to beat the Cleveland Guardians, 6-4, in the series opener on Labor Monday at Fenway Park. Aroldis Chapman worked a 1-2-3 9th for his 28th save. With the win, the Red Sox are 15 games over .500 for the 2nd time this season. -----Sox at the Dish: The Sox got on the board with 2 runs in the 1st-Inning against Guardians rookie starter, Parker Messick. Roman Anthony led off the game with a Single and eventually scored from 3rd on a balk. Romy Gonzalez knocked in the 2nd run of the Inning with an RBI Single. Trevor Story tied the game at 3-3 with an RBI Single in the Bottom of the 2nd. The Sox went in front with 2 runs in the 5th on an 2-run Single from Carlos Narvaez in the 5th Story added on with a solo Home Run in the 6th, his 23rd. -----Bello on the Bump: Brayan Bello made the start in the series opener and picked up his 11th win of the season. Bello ended up throwing 35 pitches and he gave up 3 runs in the 2nd Inning. He worked a 1-2-3 5th Inning and ended up throwing 100 total pitches.     The Red Sox (76-62) avoided being swept by the Pittsburgh Pirates with Sunday's 5-2 win in front of a sellout crowd of 36,583 at Fenway Park. Aroldis Chapman retired the side 1-2-3 with 2 strikeouts in the 9th to notch his 27th save. With the win, the Sox avoided a 6th straight home loss and finished 17-11 in August. It's the first time the Sox have had a winning record in the month of August since 2019. -----Sox at the Dish: The Red Sox went in front for good in the 5th Inning. Roman Anthony tied the game at 1-1 with an RBI groundout. Jarren Duran hit an Inside-the-Park Home Run with 2 on later in the inning that put the Red Sox up, 4-1. Ceddanne Rafaela made it 5-1 with an RBI (infield) Single in the 6th Inning. Anthony went 0-for-3 with a walk and run scored, and his 6-game hit streak came to an end. Alex Bregman broke an 0-for-17 at the plate with a Single in the 4th Inning. -----Going with Gio: Lucas Giolito turned in another solid outing in Sunday's finale despite allowing 5 walks over 6.0 Innings. Giolito allowed only 1 earned run (scored on a wild pitch) and struck out 6. Giolito improves to 9-1 (23 ER/91.2 IP) over last 15 starts with the win in the series finale. In 6 home starts since June 10, Giolito is 5-0 with a 0.69 ERA (3 ER/39.1 IP).-----#'s of the Day: --Bregman went 1-for-3 but is still just 2-for-34 over his last 9 games.--Garrett Whitlock left the bases loaded in the 8th after getting the 3rd out with a strikeout. Whitlock allowed 3 runs (1 ER) and had 11 scoreless outings in August.--It's just the 6th time in the last 17 games where the Red Sox scored 5 or more runs.
