Another quarterback is set to enter the transfer portal at Nebraska. We never got to know Marcos Davila, but he’s heading back out. It’s not a weighty departure, but the situation in Lincoln lacks stability. Just one quarterback on scholarship is set to return. That is, of course, TJ Lateef, the true freshman who’s fighting through a hamstring injury to prep for the Dec. 31 Las Vegas Bowl.

We’re back on this Monday with reaction to all that Nebraska football coach Matt Rhule had to say to the media on Friday in Lincoln. There was a lot to digest. Rhule is just “Matt” during bowl practices with the defensive linemen. He’s getting his hand dirty, re-living his days as a position coach. The players enjoy “Matt. “And Rhule wants to keep this as a part of his coaching plan.

Also, Rhule bristled at the suggestion that Nebraska is in the midst of a reset. He’s just tweaking things, Rhule said. Was Nebraska dead for 10 years before Rhule arrived? The coach, at the end of his third season, has changed his tune in talking to the public about what he inherited here. In the end, these are all just words. Nebraska needs to win more football games.
