About this listen
An individual’s willingness to share their lived experiences with others is a powerful tool in fighting the stigma associated with mental health conditions. The guest in this episode is Annet Kavata, a medical student at Aga Khan University in Nairobi, Kenya and the Founding President of Girl Up AKU. Annet's academic journey is intertwined with her passion for the well-being of the youth, gender equity and mental health-especially through the lens of neurodiversity and her lived experience with ADHD.
Through her story, Annet takes us on a journey from her diagnosis, the coping mechanisms she has developed and the challenges she has overcome along the way. By sharing these events as they happened, Annet aims to encourage more youth around the world to be more vocal about their mental health challenges so that they get the support they need.
