About this listen

Heavenly Father, on this second Wednesday of Lent, we come before you with humble hearts, mindful of the incredible power you’ve placed in our words.

Your Word reminds us that the tongue carries both life and death.

Today, we choose life.

Cleanse our lips from criticism and cynicism—toward ourselves and others.

Let our speech overflow with blessing, hope, and faith.

Fill our emotions with kind feelings, our minds with renewal, and our soul with joy.

Teach us to declare your promises over every part of our lives, to speak victory in the face of adversity, and to confidently affirm your goodness even when we feel discouraged or defeated.

Help us make positive mental thoughts a spiritual discipline, since we are made in your image and you say, "We are wonderfully made."

So, Father God, shape our thoughts and words more in alignment with your loving, kind, gracious thoughts about us.

From this healing and renewal, may our language become a wellspring of encouragement, healing, and uplifting those around us and building bridges where there once were walls.

Give us the courage to bless, praise, and speak life into every circumstance.

Transform our conversations so your love shines through us daily. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Challenge: Fast from negative talk today—replace every complaint with a word of gratitude, praise, thanksgiving, or a compliment.

Let’s go. It’s time: Speaking Blessings of Life, Not Complaining, Transform our Language.
