    Dr. Daisy Torres-Hill co-designed the Dual Language Academy at Dwight Bellizzi, and under her leadership, more than 800 Hartford students earned the Seal of Biliteracy, recognizing and honoring their bilingualism and biliteracy. In addition, she co-developed the Hartford Principal Leadership Academy (HPLA) and the Hartford Assistant Principal Leadership Academy (HAPLA), both “grow-your-own” programs designed to cultivate and retain leadership talent within the school district. Daisy also spearheaded the recruitment and retention of teachers from Puerto Rico through the innovative Paso a Paso teacher recruitment program.

    Daisy received bachelor’s degrees in elementary education and Spanish, as well as a master’s degree in TESOL and bilingual education from Southern Connecticut State University. She earned a doctorate in educational leadership from the University of Connecticut. Daisy is a member of the Connecticut Association of Bilingual and Biliteracy Education (CABBE), the Association of Latino Administrators and Superintendents (ALAS), and the Connecticut Association of Latino Administrators and Superintendents (CALAS).
