 Uno de los primeros clientes de la primera tienda que abrió Vans en 1966 fue Stacy Peralta. Stacy era de los Dogtown Boys, "inventores" del skater moderno y precursores del negocio del skate. Como empresario Stacy Peralta fundó de la marca Power Peralta, y para su equipo de skaters "Bones Brigade" fichó a figuras como Lance Mountain, Bucky Lasek, Rodney Mullen, Tony Hawk y a un jovencísimo Steve Caballero.
