  • CHRIS SLADE Interview - AC/DC - THE FIRM - TOM JONES - MANFRED MANN'S EARTHBAND
    Jul 13 2025

ROB & JEREMY interview CHRIS SLADE

Chris Slade had an incredible career in music spanning 6 decades!

Chris is from Wales and grew up 6 miles from where Tom Jones grew up. So it only was right that Chris became Tom Jones drummer (Chris was on Tom's first 6 albums including LIve in Vegas)

Chris went on to form Manfred Mann's Earth Band (Blinded by the Light) ... was asked to join a new supergroup THE FIRM (in the 80s with Jimmy Page & Paul Rodgers), was in ASIA, URIAH HEEP...

... and one of the greatest bands of all time ... AC/DC. Chris was on their RAZOR'S EDGE album which he played drums on the legendary song Thunderstruck! He also recorded "big gun" for the Swartzenegger movie "Last Action Hero". He joined AC/DC on their ROCK or BUST world tour in 2015.

He was in AC/DC up until 2020 when Phil Rudd rejoined.

We only had about 35 minutes to talk to Chris so we couldn't cover his whole career (who could) but we got to talk drum technique, auditioning for AC/DC, being asked to join The Firm and other stuff including who makes the best tea and if Chris could go back in time where would it be and when?

Also hear Chris' response when Jimmy Page told him (while recording with Tom Jones) what he was going to call his next band ... you may have heard of them?

    A good fun interview!

  • SOPHIE CORAN Interview - Philadelphia Singer Songwriter
    May 17 2025

Rob and Matt had the pleasure of talking to Singer/Songwriter Sophie Coran a week or so ago.

Sophie's new album "I don't go to New York anymore" was just released.

The album is a beautiful indie pop album that doesn't disappoint. Very dreamy, 14 beautifully constructed songs. A couple of the songs are experimental.. the album is a wonderful journey into the indie pop realm.. We just love this album!

We talk to Sophie about her new apartment, her cats, toy pianos, why she doesn't go to New York anymore, Jeffrey Campbell Boots, her 7 visualizer videos, teaching piano and we find out a couple non-music things about Sophie... what is her favorite Philly food and the last movie she saw in the theater...

**** A LITTLE ABOUT SOPHIE Sophie is a singer/songwriter based in Philadelphia. When she was two years old, she asked her mom for a “pi-na-no.” Music has always been a huge part of her life, in fact, she's not sure there’s ever been a period of time where music wasn’t a defining factor in her decisions. From piano lessons, to learning to write down the songs she heard in her head, to studying classical composition in college, she knew music would always be present in one way or another. After graduating from MSM, she spent some time abroad, landing in London, and then back to Philly, where she is currently based. ****
