Manche Denkmäler, die man vorher kaum beachtet hatte, wurden aufgrund Fontanscher Beschreibungen vor dem Zerfall gerettet. Kloster Lehnin als älteste Gründung der Zisterzienser in der Mark gehört dazu. So wurde von 1871 bis 1878 auch die Klosterkirche nach alten Unterlagen wieder aufgebaut.
