About this listen
In this episode of Remarkably Ordinary Conversations (ROC), Dwight and Denise discuss with
renowned international educator Kitts Cadette the evolution and utility of micro-credentials and industry certifications in the process of modern-day education. Ms. Cadette uncovers the
training priorities from student through to principal and the need to recognize the value of
intentionally designed curricula that honor both the academic and the vocational. Cadette reflects on her own Trinidad upbringing and how exposure to short courses in various disciplines (micro-credentialing) by any other name became career pathways for many that spawned entrepreneurial aspirations and long lasting, lucrative business ventures. Still, Cadette agreed that in the Caribbean space in particular, a top-down shift in the ways we deliver education is still needed to disrupt the troubling remnants of a colonial past.
