What if the meaning of Christmas cannot be understood without the mission of Jesus Christ? In this message, Pastor Justin walks through four key Scriptures that reveal the purpose of Jesus from the manger to the cross. His name, His arrival, His identity, and His humanity all point to one mission that was set before time began. Christmas is not complete unless we understand why He came.
In this sermon you will discover:
1. His Name Reveals His Mission
Before the manger there was already a mission. The name Jesus means Yahweh saves, and His identity, intention, and authority all declare His purpose. His name carries salvation because His name carries His mission.
2. His Arrival Confirms God’s Plan
Through Simeon in Luke 2, God reveals that Jesus is salvation, light for the nations, and the glory of Israel. His arrival is not accidental. It is the unfolding of a divine plan that confronts darkness and reveals hearts.
3. His Identity Defines His Assignment
John the Baptist calls Him the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. Every sacrifice in the Old Testament was pointing to Him. The manger makes no sense without the cross. He came to be the sacrifice that removes sin, not just covers it.
4. His Humanity Enables His Victory
Hebrews 2 shows that Jesus took on flesh and blood so He could defeat death from the inside. He breaks the power of the devil and sets people free from the fear of dying. He became what we are in order to conquer what we fear.
What this means for us today:
His mission shows your value.
His purpose calls you to surrender.
His victory gives you confidence.
How to live this out:
Focus on His mission.
Face what needs to change.
Follow His way of love.
Jesus came to save sinners, confront darkness, reveal hearts, remove sin, and break the power of death. He came to heal, restore, lift, free, and make all things new. He came with purpose so you would not live without one.
