About this listen

In the spring of 1984, Andrew Hanson, who went by Jay, was shot and killed in front of his wife and brother-in-law. This 41-year-old case has left investigators puzzled; there is very little information about Jay and the masked killer who shot him on his doorstep. The case has multiple suspects, but not enough evidence links any of them to the crime scene. The only pieces of evidence recovered were a bullet casing, a button, and a lock of hair. Back in 1984, DNA testing was virtually nonexistent, but now detectives with the Weber Metro Cold Case Task Force are ready to use today’s technology to find who the real killer is.

If you have any information that could help solve this case, call or text the Weber Metro Cold Case Task Force at 801-399-8672. For more, including video, catch my story on ksltv.com.

The Weber Metro Cold Case Task Force is raising money to help pay for DNA testing on these cold cases. If you’d like to donate, visit webercountyutah.gov/cold-cases
