Breaking into the music scene is a tough ask for any musician. Breaking into Australia’s vast country music scene as a young songwriter from Townsville, however, takes more than just musical talent.

Growing up on the passenger side of a Western Star, watching town after town disappear in the rearview mirror, has armed country music sensation Josie with all the stories and grit she may need to scuff up the stage at Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry one day.

Known by only her first name, Josie is taking the genre by storm with lyrics that bridge the divide between Australian and classic American country music. It’s for this reason she is being noticed by organisations like the CMA (America’s Country Music Association) and being curated into playlists with some of the biggest names you can think of.
