In der Offenbarung 5 erscheint ein Buch, das mit sieben Siegeln versiegelt war, welches Jesus nahm. Dies bedeutet, dass Jesus mit der ganzen Autorität und der Macht Gottes somit betraut war und dass Er die Welt von da an gemäß Gottes Plan führen würde. Offenbarung 8 beginnt mit der Passage: „Und als das Lamm das siebente Siegel auftat, entstand eine Stille im Himmel etwa eine halbe Stunde lang. Und ich sah die sieben Engel, die vor Gott stehen, und ihnen wurden sieben Posaunen gegeben.“ So öffnet Jesus das siebte Siegel des Buches und zeigt uns die Dinge, die da kommen werden.
