About this listen

Warning: this episode contains a first-person account of mental health issues and suicide attempts.

Josh McKenzie was a troubled teen and self-confessed 'jerk'. After struggling with his mental health for years, a break-up prompted a spiral involving alcohol, drugs and suicidal thoughts. Josh found himself on train tracks waiting for one to "take him". He survived the incident, but it left Josh a double amputee, losing both legs above the knee. In this raw interview, Josh opens up about his battles, and learning to live without legs.
