About this listen

Hi. It's Josh. I published my first newsletter before the age of ten, written using my next-door neighbor’s typewriter, copied with carbon paper, and distributed to mailboxes on my bicycle. One of my first stories was an obituary of John Belushi. Strange for a ten year old? Yes! My show is governed by deadpan sarcasm that goes granular on topics of culture that I'm deeply curious about. I hope you enjoy this sometimes snarky stream of consciousness. I'm serious about not taking life too seriously.™

  • Episode #40: 1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration | July 11-July 17, 2025
    Jul 18 2025
Watch all of the original 1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration TikTok posts from July 11-July 17, 2025 on YouTube!+++On This Week’s EpisodeThis week on the show, I start out on Day 173 challenging myself as I stated previously to be more vulnerable, and so I talk about not being much of an older brother. This was difficult, but worth it, because now I think that I am just so awesome for being able to be so vulnerable. I hope vulnerability turns me into even more of a conceited b*****d. What’s does this have to do with Marvin Gaye? Keep listening! Then I discuss a chat I had with a dude at the track and how that led to remembering someone’s name for what seems like the first time. I am not good at remembering names and I tell you why. It has to do with a personality disorder that I am working on. Suprise, suprise. His name is Frank, by the way, and we drive the same car. How’s that for a cliffhanger, huh? Excited now? Great! What does this have to do with the leader of the Trump administration? Stay tuned!Speaking of not remembering names, Day 175 is the one year anniversary of the tragic passing of a firefighter at a political rally in Pennsylvania where someone we know claims to have taken incoming fire of his own. Whatever you think about what happened that day, that someone is not thinking about the firefighter. This day started with a post I made claiming that if a reporter asked the leader of the Trump administration the name of this firefighter, he had 0% chance of knowing that name. This led me to address a commenter about this topic on Day 175, and then to respond to yet another supporter of the leader of the Trump administration later that day. I have included all of this back and forth for your pleasure. I hope it is pleasurable. The day is lighter on Day 176 when we celebrate the completion of 12% of 1461 days of ignoring the Trump administration. As per usual, I like to use these milestones to remind us all of what we are doing here. This was also the day that the leader of the Trump administration crashed the stage at the World Cup. If you’re into hearing about jerk-offs showing up where they’re not supposed to be, stay tuned! On Day 177, I get back to vulnerability time when I admit to wasting time and discuss my endeavor to develop brisk reactions that are the best responses. What does that mean? I made it up that day, so I am still figuring it out, but I welcome any and all feedback about how I can get better and better and better at this. I also use the occasion to bring up Morris Day of The Time. I like to bring up Morris Day whenever possible. On Day 178 we discuss a discussion. I was on the phone with my friend for two and half hours and I proclaim it to be a perfect conversation. How does one have a perfect conversation? Stay tuned. I will explain. I will also remind you that Bjork wore a swan dress once. Wasn’t that fun?And then on Day 179 I calm down a commenter named Lynda who was taken aback to find out that we aren’t already ten years into the Trump administration. I let her know that I understand, but as I think about it now at 6:52 AM, I guess that it has been ten years if you count all the way back to when he came down that escalator. If only he had tripped. Oh, well. I am vulnerable, so I can reveal that dark thought.+++Hi. It’s Josh.A few days before the inauguration, I was thinking about how I wanted to deal with the next four years.I was exhausted by the news! But I wasn’t interested in going completely uninformed. I wanted to use the “opportunity,” as I had decided to optimistically look at this timeline, to become more mindful and better train my mind to take in the “news,” and then let it fall away from my conciousness.Efficiently and totally. The other aspect of this thought was to then take the personal time I was reclaiming through this process and apply it to more creative endeavors. This series, for example!1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration began. “Day 1” went viral on TikTok, so now I am in until 2029, right?!If you are also someone aspiring to become the best version of yourself, please feel free to join me on this journey, which is sure to get weird around “Day 232,” “Day 877,” and “Day 1001,” etc.For your pleasure (maybe not, let’s see), here is another compilation of posts, along with an exclusive intro and outro only available on the podcast (because I love you.)As per usual, if you want to see video of the original TikTok posts that this podcast audio is derived from, you can watch them all on YouTube at this link. • Episode #39: 1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration | July 4-July 10, 2025
    Jul 11 2025
Watch all of the original 1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration TikTok posts from July 4-July 10, 2025 on YouTube!+++On This Week’s EpisodeThis week on the show, the leader of the Trump administration gives a speech where he states that he hates Democrats. Like, really. He says, “I hate them.” Nice, right? So if you were wondering if you should call your senator, don’t bother. People who hate are not people who can be negotiated with. Let’s just ride this out! The next day, I criticize the other side of the aisle for posting about the floods in Texas that have claimed the lives of dozens of young children at summer camp. I saw people posting that Texas was now quote-unquote “finding out.” I find that behavior and talk to be just as hateful as what the leader of the Trump administration says. Garbage people are everywhere. Except for Philadelphia, it seems. If you know you know. If you don’t, well, the garbage collectors are on strike in Philly. Okay?Special note: You will hear a short satirical video I made about the farewell concert event by Black Sabbath last weekend. The reason I include it here is because on Day 168, I address a commenter who somehow found a way to make my ridiculous video political. I take the opportunity to point out a couple more examples of how we are living in times when now literally every single word is political. But that won’t stop the fun. You will hear another short satirical video afterwards, because thankfully, there are still some people out there who want to play.On Day 169, I coined the phrase “empathy for idiots,” because I realized that empathy isn’t just for people who suffer (like me!) It is also for dum-dums who don’t realize they are dum-dums and I give examples of characters from some of my favorite stupid comedy films. I think you will understand the concept right away and recognize the idiots in your life to empathise with. Then things get real for a few days when I begin to discuss my journey with psychotherapy as an individual who sacrifices and suffers and sacrifices and suffers and… well, you get it by now. The next day, I reveal that my therapist wants me to think about being more vulnerable in order to better connect with people, and so that is what I am attempting to do on Day 172 as I discuss the party I attended a couple of weeks ago and the effect it had on me. Don’t worry, I manage to somehow connect this to the song “Walk Like An Egyptian.”+++Hi. • Episode #38: 1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration | June 27-July 3, 2025
    Jul 4 2025
Watch all of the original 1461 Days of Ignoring The Trump Administration TikTok posts from June 27-July 3, 2025 on YouTube!+++On This Week’s EpisodeThis week on the show, I have had it with political pundits on the left who continue to wonder why the right acts the way they do. They already know the answer, but they keep asking the question so they will have something to talk about. I get it, but just because I get it, it doesn’t mean I like it!Then, I tell a story of spending an afternoon entertaining the conservative parents of my friend and their attempts to see if I would talk s**t about the leader of the Trump administration. You won’t want to miss this! Day 161 is very special, because we go to 11. That’s right 11, 11, 11. We are 11% through 1461 days of ignoring the Trump administration, so of course I have to discuss “Spinal Tap” and how the Trump administration is a total s**t sandwich.Did you know that highly intelligent and well-educated people are more susceptible to the manipulation and indoctrination techniques of cults? Well, they are! If you want to find out what I’m talking about, great, you’re already listening. Spoiler: It is not about the leader of the Trump administration’s cult, and it’s not about the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi aka “Sexy Sadie” either. Then things get really fun, when I take Day 163 to address a commenter named “Chief” and recommend to him that he spend some time listening to “It’s Alright To Cry,” a song by the oldest living former NFL player, Rosey Grier. On Day 164, I contemplate bad people, and more specifically, the degree to which bad people are bad. Of course I bring up one of the leader of the Trump administration’s most admired serial killers, “Dr. Hannibal Lecter.” And finally, on Day 165, I discuss the passage earlier today of the bill that may kick 17 million people off of their health insurance and why and how we will survive the leader of the Trump administration and the Trump administration, and be better for it.+++Hi.
