E. Howard Hunt leitete 1972 von Präsident Nixon beauftragte Einbrüche in die Wahlkampfzentrale der Democrats. Seine Handlanger waren von der CIA ausgebildete Exilkubaner, mit denen er u.a. 1961 die Geheiminvasion in der Schweinebucht versuchte. Die Schuld am Debakel gab er Kennedy.
2007 räumte Hunt auf seinem Totenbett eine Verwicklung in das Attentat auf John F. Kennedy ein, das er zumindest nicht verhinderte.
