When JFK died, one person it personally affected – outside his immediate family – was his friend, Grant Stockdale. Stockdale had met Kennedy when they were first elected to the Senate, and had formed a strong friendship, with Kennedy making him Ambassador for Ireland. The two men had a deep friendship, and Kennedy’s assassination shook Stockdale.
