  • 37. O bevi o affoghi": Come gestire l'incertezza senza perdere la propria identità
    Mar 17 2026

[B2/C1] Today we are tackling a deeper, more psychological topic: adaptability (la capacità di adattamento).Change is often seen as a war to be fought, but what if it's just the natural condition of life?. In this episode, we explore how adapting doesn't mean erasing your identity, but rather using the resources you already have to navigate uncertainty. In this episode, we reflect on: 🌊 "O bevi o affoghi": The harsh Italian idiom (drink or drown) and why change shouldn't be a threat to our brains. 🧠 Needs vs. Goals: How to handle criticism (like a harsh email) by pausing and focusing on the ultimate goal, rather than the immediate need to defend yourself. 💔 Resilience in Hard Times: Learning that we are much stronger than we think when life forces us to adapt to loss and difficult situations. 🇮🇹 The Intermediate Plateau: Why feeling stuck in your Italian journey doesn't mean you are "bad at languages". It just means your old methods don't work anymore, and it's time to adapt!.✨ DISCOVER YOUR LEARNING STYLE:As we discussed in this episode, understanding your personality is key to finding the best way to learn a language. My website is back online, and I have prepared a short 5-minute test to help you discover your unique style (and to help me with a new secret project!).👉 Take the test here: https://cristinaitalianvoice.com/italian-dna-test/💌 CONTACT & REFLECTION:Is there an area of your life where you are resisting change?. • 36. Sopravvivere a una cena italiana (Parte 2): La trappola dell'antipasto e il caos a tavola.
    Mar 10 2026

[B1-B2] Welcome back to Italiano a modo mio! After the huge success of episode 31, my husband Erich joins me today to put theory into practice.

Together, we roleplay a typical Italian dinner at a friend's or relative's house to show you exactly what to expect. From the mountain of appetizers to the intense eye contact, Italian dinners can be loud, chaotic, and completely overwhelming—especially for introverts!

In this episode, we will cover:

    • 🧀 The Antipasto Trap & Food Pressure: How to survive the endless appetizers. Warning: If you say you are saving space for the main course, they will give you a double portion!

    • 🫒 Unsolicited Cheese & Oil: Why locals might grate cheese or pour olive oil directly onto your plate without asking (and why it's a sign of sharing their best!).

    • 🍷 The First Toast: Why you should never leave your wine glass empty and the importance of the initial "brindisi".

    • 📱 The Strict Phone Ban: Why checking your phone at the table makes you look scostumato (very rude) and what to do instead.

    • 🥖 Body Language & "La Scarpetta": Why being too formal makes you look snobby, and how cleaning your plate with bread shows true appreciation.

    • 👁️ Intense Eye Contact: Why Italians stare at you while talking and how the table becomes a "closed perimeter".

    • 🍽️ Introvert Survival Tips: How offering to clear the table (sparecchiare) can give you a much-needed break from the conversation!

A SMALL UPDATE FOR YOU:My website is back online! I'm developing a new project that combines learning Italian with self-discovery. I've prepared a short test and I really need your help to try it out: it only takes 5 minutes of your time, but it will be a huge help for me to grow this idea. Thank you so much to anyone who takes it! 🙏👉 Take the test here: https://cristinaitalianvoice.com/method/

  • 35. "Sto andando" o "Vado"? Le differenze del presente progressivo tra italiano e inglese
    Mar 3 2026

    [A2/B1]

Hello and welcome back to a new episode for true "language nerds"! 🤓Today we are talking about a grammatical structure that drives many students crazy, especially native English speakers: the Present Progressive (sto mangiando, sto facendo).

If you speak English, it will feel natural for you to use this form all the time. But in Italian, our concept of time and actions is a bit different! In this episode, we'll discover together how to use this form correctly without translating literally from English, helping you sound much more natural.

In this episode, you will learn:

    • 🗓️ Planned future: Why we don't say "Sto incontrando Sara domani" (I'm meeting Sara tomorrow) but use the simple present instead.

    • 🏠 Temporary vs. permanent situations: How to express the concept of "I'm living in London" in Italian using adverbs.

    • 🧠 Stative verbs: Did you know that Italian is more flexible than English with verbs like capire (to understand) and credere (to believe)?

    • 🔁 Habits and emotions: How to handle phrases like "You are being difficult".

A SMALL UPDATE FOR YOU:My website is back online! I'm developing a new project that combines learning Italian with self-discovery. I've prepared a short test and I really need your help to try it out: it only takes 5 minutes of your time, but it will be a huge help for me to grow this idea.
