“We started with a plan to help five favelas and 2,000 families and ended up serving 450 favelas and benefiting more than 36,000 families,” says Rubem Cesar Fernandes, leader of SOS Favela, a project that took thousands of food hampers to families in Rio de Janeiro’s most vulnerable people. The Project was supported by the Australian government. - “Nós começamos com um plano de auxiliar cinco favelas e 2 mil famílias e terminamos atendendo 450 favelas e beneficiando mais de 36 mil famílias,” diz Rubem Cesar Fernandes, líder do SOS Favela, projeto que levou milhares de cestas básicas às famílias dos morros cariocas mais impactados pela Covid-19. “É nas favelas que a Covid-19 e o distanciamento social causam maiores danos,” diz Rubem.
