This is International Clearance - the podcast about British born/raised footballers and coaches plying their trade abroad for club or country. This week we focus on the highlights of the international break, and what we like to call the Diaspora Duty - those from the UK that represent their countries of their family heritage.

World Cup and play-off qualification spots were at stake in the last week, and it was mixed fortunes for our contingent around the world . While DR Congo defenders Axel Tuanzebe and Aaron Wan-Bissaka were delighted to make March's intercontinental play-off showdown, the Jamaican national team were far less enthused - so much so that manager Steve McClaren immediately resigned after his side's draw with Curacao, who instead qualified automatically for 2026.

Elsewhere, Bangladesh's international break included a historic win over their great rivals and a Hamza Choudhury bicycle kick to rival Scott McTominay; Somalia ended the longest winless run in international football with help from a former Hashtag United player, while new Sweden boss Graham Potter is on a winless run of his own after his first two games in charge. There's updates on those representing Canada, Chile, Nigeria, Hungary and more, including a hat-trick hero for the British Virgin Islands!

The international break is upon us, and there are some massive games for the British born/raised players representing the likes of Jamaica, Nigeria and Iraq as they seek a chance at World Cup glory. We discuss a few new call-ups, including Brentford left back Rico Henry's addition to the Reggae Boyz squad as they hope to lift spirits after Hurricane Melissa, and respond to Alex Iwobi's revealing hotel Snaps as the Nigerian FA face a player revolt in Morocco.

We also look back on the week in club football for our contingent abroad - Marcus Rashford now leads in assists across Europe's top 5 leagues, there's another controversy for Ademola Lookman at Atalanta, and an incredible solo effort from Londoner Dan Agyei stuns the Turkish champions. There were two Englishmen in El Clasico on the weekend and both were involved in their side's attacking highlights, with Jude Bellingham reminding certain grumpy Qatar-based pundits that he's still one of the best we've got.

There were also three goalscoring Brits in Serie A in the last few days, including a first Cremonese goal for backflipping 38-year-old Jamie Vardy, while we keep an eye on those of our contingent that have got the MLS Cup play-offs underway.

The international break saw a number of British born or raised players in action on what we call Diaspora Duty.

Ghana sealed World Cup qualification, and reportedly a couple of former England internationals want in on the act, albeit to a mixed response. DR Congo and Nigeria's 2026 fates will be decided next month at the earliest, in a special CAF play-off round to hopefully make an inter-continental backdoor to the tournament. They may well meet the likes of Iraq and Jamaica there, who aren't quite where they need to be just yet in their respective regions.

Elsewhere, D'Margio Wright-Phillips scores on his Grenada debut, Jonjo Shelvey has a new teammate at Arabian Falcons, and Graham Potter twerks for the Sweden job!
