• 71. Diaspora Duty: Unity Cup and new call-ups around the world
    Jun 4 2025

As we head into the final international break of the season, there are a ton more new British-born/raised players taking the opportunity to play for national teams around the world.

Jordan Bowery brings his wealth of Football League experience to St Kitts & Nevis, Hibs ace Jordan Obita accepts the call from Uganda at age 31, and Fleetwood Town's Phoenix Patterson looks set to make his bow for the Philippines. Plus, the likes of Rwanda, Zimbabwe and Malta have promoted teenage academy talents in the English pyramid to their senior international setups despite a lack of club experience.

Plus, Trent gets his wish and heads to real Madrid in time for the Club World Cup...

Scott McTominay is still having the week of his life as you read this, following his acrobatic goal to seal Napoli's Serie A title. Fellow Scottish international Max Johnston lifts another league win in Austria, while Christian Burgess captains Union SG to their first Belgian title in 90 years.

Jesse Lingard gets a new trim in Korea, Jobe Bellingham heads from Wembley to Frankfurt, and the Unity Cup gets underway in Brentford with Jamaican and Trini diaspora aplenty. Stay up to date @intlclearance

  • 69. Lewis Fergie time!
    May 22 2025

Congrats to Lewis Ferguson on winning the battle of the Brits in the Coppa Italia final, with the Bologna skipper lifted his side's first trophy in half a century.

After a disappointing end to the season for losing finallists Milan, the futures of Tammy Abraham, Fikayo Tomori, Kyle Walker and Ruben Loftus-Cheek seem uncertain.

We've been celebrating plenty of titles and promotions recently from our overseas contingent, but it's more about the lows this week as pod favourites Strasbourg, led by Liam Rosenior, miss out on Europe in heartbreaking fashion, and Jordan Henderson's Ajax throw the Eredivisie title away in their last five games. While there are homecomings expected for the likes of Lille's Angel Gomes and Scotland's relegated Las Palmas duo, there are reports linking Maxi Oyedele and Max Johnston with moves elsewhere in Europe. Plus, John Carver is up for Manager of the Year...

  • 68. Puncheon Promoted, Pulis in Egypt?
    May 14 2025

The celebration of British coaches and players abroad continues with ease as more promotions are secured, including Jason Puncheon's first as a manager. Meanwhile, Tony Pulis is invited by Mido for a potential Sporting Director job in Egypt.

In Serie A, Scott McTominay has been immortalised in Naples - imagine what happens if they actually win the Scudetto! - while Empoli's British duo keep their survival hopes alive. Bayern's UK contingent are doused in blonde beers for their Bundesliga party, while Real Madrid make a cheeky offer to Liverpool to get Trent before the Club World Cup begins. Should they accept it?

Plus, we preview the Coppa Italia Final featuring a ton of Brits, while in Diaspora Duty, Aaron Wan-Bissaka finally declares for DR Congo!

  • 67. Saluting the Trophy Collectors
    May 6 2025

As many league seasons around the world reach their climax, trophy winners are being decided and there are plenty of Brits abroad that have medals around their necks in the last week or so. Harry Kane, Eric Dier and Michael Olise each win their first league titles after a chaotic Bayern weekend, former Man Utd midfielder Maxi Oyedele wins his first senior trophy, and Ivan Toney's Ah-Ahli win the Asian answer to the Champions League.

Elsewhere, we discuss the British-born/raised interest in Ligue 1's Champions League race, with former Arsenal duo Mika Biereth and Folarin Balogun starting up top together for the first time in Monaco's recent win, while Marseille eye up Lille's contract rebel Angel Gomes for a surprise summer move.

  • 66. Trophies for Toney & Kane this weekend?
    May 2 2025

After a great week of Champions League in Europe, we turn to the equivalent competition in Asia where Ivan Toney and his Al-Ahli side are one game away from continental glory. In Spain, Jude Bellingham sees red in a cup final defeat for Real Madrid, while in Germany it looks like Bayern will confirm Harry Kane's first title this weekend (although he won't be playing!).

Kane's teammate Eric Dier has been rewarded with more than a league medal for his run-in this season, while in Italy, Scott McTominay's brace takes Napoli three points clear and breaks a Scottish Serie A record. Elsewhere, Charlotte FC's English contingent collectively crash out after a home defeat, while there are wicked whispers of an English striking legend seeking work in Cyprus...

  • 65. McTominay heads Napoli back into the title race
    Apr 22 2025

As the majority of the British contingent abroad crash out of continental competition, some are still making big steps for their domestic league prospects. Bayern extend their lead at the top of the table, as Harry Kane becomes the fastest player to 60 Bundesliga goals, while Scott McTominay's winner for Napoli earned not just his second consecutive MOTM award, but saw his side go level on points with Serie A leaders Inter. Gianfranco Zola was among the latest to heap praise on him...

Elsewhere, Jonathan Rowe is candid with the press after a goalscoring appearance for Marseille, and Steve Holland's time in Japan has already come to an end. Stay in touch @intlclearance

  • 64. Junior Velásquez - Venezuela, Portugal, Armenia, Croatia
    Apr 15 2025

We're delighted to be joined by 22-year-old Junior Velásquez, a Londoner that has already plied his trade in four overseas countries. He recently signed for NK Jarun Zagreb in the Croatian second tier, having enjoyed a storming half-season in rural Armenia, and we hear his experiences of those periods as well as his time in the under-age sides of Farense in Portugal, and Venezuelan giants Caracas.

Before that chat, we shout out some of the headline Brits across Europe that enjoyed their weekend, from Scott McTominay's brace on Monday night to Oli McBurnie back in the goals at Las Palmas! Follow us @intlclearance
