About this listen
India’s week has been… let’s just say, busy. PM Modi went to Japan, came back with a 10 trillion yen shopping voucher and a promise to crash rockets with JAXA on the moon. Back home, GDP hit 7.8%, proving the economy is apparently running on Red Bull. Meanwhile, Maratha quota protests turned Mumbai into the world’s largest parking lot. The U.S. slapped 50% tariffs on Indian goods because of Russian oil, but India swore it won’t “bow down” – exporters, however, are already bent over. Reliance announced a Jio IPO for 2026 and something called “Reliance Intelligence” – finally, AI that nags you to pay your Jio bill. Courts decided marriages are valid without registration (good news for couples, bad news for nosy relatives). School enrolments are falling, probably because kids find YouTube more educational. The Supreme Court is busy debating whether Ram Setu is a monument – apparently, India’s biggest legal problem is rocks. And finally, private companies are building a 12-satellite constellation, so soon even your unpaid parking ticket can be seen… from space.
