About this listen

Good afternoon. Indiana. I'm Aaron Jolly. Step outside right now and you'll feel 44 degrees — cooler than yesterday, but still running about 28 degrees above normal for early March. That trace of rain from overnight? Long gone. Skies are clearing fast from west to east. And sunshine takes over. Highs today range from 59 to 62 degrees statewide. Southwest Indiana claims the warmest spot at 62. Central Indiana hits 61. Northeast and northern areas top out at 59, with breezy southwest winds gusting to 30 miles an hour. Not bad for a Sunday afternoon. Tonight stays mild under mostly clear skies. Lows settle in the low to mid 40s. Light southwest winds keep temperatures from dropping much. Monday brings a big warm-up. Sunshine continues. And highs surge into the upper 60s to low 70s. Southwest Indiana hits 74 — the hot spot. Central Indiana reaches 70. Northeast and northern areas top out at 68. Near-record warmth is possible. Here's the heads up for your week ahead. Tuesday stays warm — mid 70s — but clouds build. Rain and thunderstorms arrive late Tuesday into Wednesday. This could be heavy. Here comes 1 to 2 inches of rain, possibly more. Flash flooding is a real concern, especially south of I-70 where rivers are already running high. Severe storms are possible Tuesday night and Wednesday. Wednesday's front brings a dramatic shift. Rain tapers off. And temperatures crash. By Thursday, we're back to reality — highs only in the low to mid 40s. A chance of snow flurries lingers Thursday morning, especially north. Friday rebounds slightly to the 50s before another system approaches next weekend. Don't forget — clocks spring forward tonight. You lose an hour of sleep, but we're gaining daylight. Sunrise tomorrow is at 8:09 A.M., sunset at 7:45 P.M. Enjoy the mild afternoon while it lasts. See you this evening.
